Welcome to Gothenburg

As parents of current ISGR students, we know how exciting and challenging a new school - and sometimes a new country - can be for both children and their families; this is why you are automatically and for free a member of the PTA as it will facilitate your integration both at school and in Gothenburg.

Those pages will provide you with some information on what goes on during the school year within and around our school. Joining the PTA active members Team, participating in events and activities are a great way to get to know the teachers, staff, and fellow parents who form such a wonderful and caring community around our children.

So how can you make the best of your free and automatic PTA membership?

At the beginning of the school year, in August/September, the PTA "Welcome Committee" offers a New Parents Fika, a Back-to-School Breakfast and a Walking integration tour for you to know everything about everyday life in Gothenburg.
Our Country representatives are also available to answer your questions during school times.

You can subscribe to receive updates from this blog and we also recommend that you ask to join the ISGR PTA Facebook page as it allows us to share and request information and news of interest to the members. This can be school and PTA events, social activities we organise, the clubs you can join and questions about school or living in Gothenburg.

Note that due to the pandemic situation, most of our welcoming events are cancelled.

If you have specific questions or want to join other community groups, you are also welcome to contact our partners for settling in smoothly, for moral support or for a better integration into the Swedish society:
www.expateos-sweden.com and www.performontop.com

ISGR Facebook Community: Log into your FB account or join Facebook and search for ISGR PTA Group or click the link above. Request to be a member (in the message box please include your child’s name and grade - this info will be used for verification only). You will be notified when the group administration approves your request. Joining the group is completely voluntary and does not replace any other means of communication.

ISGR PTA is supporting new after school activities program for students

It's often a challenge to register our children in activities after school, no? For years, the PTA has always tried to support parents and students by answering their questions about this, as there is no specific program offered by ISGR. Hopefully, the Sports Club was created by Peter a few years ago and is now running well. Still there was room for other type of activities. ISGR had already allowed private teachers to use school premises for music lessons for example but this would not fulfil all the needs of our community. Some parents have as well developed their own clubs but it was not always easy to find information about those. Now it's a new era that begins with a dedicated process for "Activity Leaders" to offer activities at school as well as there is a more transparent routine to register the children to those activities:  a special thank you to Iris who did an amazing job on this! From there, we hope the offer will grow and that ISGR will be able to

Welcome to the ISGR PTA Blog!

With this new initiative, we now offer our members a more knowledgeable and accessible information about our missions and goals. It is also the place where you can find what the PTA has to offer during the school year and how you can contribute by being an active member and joining the PTA Team. Go through all the pages: maybe you did not know how fun  it is  to belong to our groups or how rewarding it is to  contribute to the well being of the ISGR community. You are part of the action: the PTA  provides a  forum  for people interested in school and local life, and it supports  parents, teachers and staff who want to be actors of the progress for our children by exchanging new ideas and funding new projects. And of course, you can  always  count on PTA other members to facilitate your integration at ISGR and in Gothenburg, Sweden. Whether you are from Sweden or abroad, if you are a parent/guardian of a child at ISGR or working at ISGR, you are automatically a membe

Welcome to a new school year at ISGR!

We are ready! Yes 2020 is not like any other year but the PTA looks forward to continuing some of its missions this new school year. So what did we learn so far about the situation with Covid-19 and what to expect this year - unless it changes for better - regarding PTA activities? The rule is no gatherings of more than 50 people and school will continue to do as much online meetings as possible to reduce contact. It means that sadly we cannot hold any event like the Welcoming Breakfast, the Family Day or even the Winter  Bazaar.   We still want to do as much as we can to welcome new parents. There are 143 new students, meaning a lot of new families joined ISGR. There will be an orientation tour on August 21st and if more people are interested on Tuesday 25 August. Information will be advertised during the online welcoming session held by school no Monday 20 and also on Managebac. During this tour, PTA active members will share a lot of useful information with newcomers about living in
