The Parent Teacher Association: a good place to stay active and socialize

Hi PTA members! How was your day today?

Well, it's fall. The days are getting shorter, the weather colder and the sun is hiding most days. Hopefully, thanks to our great community, you will be able to meet other parents, do activities, share information and stay in good shape.

Some of you might even want to get more active at school and for our international community, as you are less busy or look for a new project to start for the winter time. But maybe you feel uncomfortable asking, you do not know who to contact, or are not sure how you can help.

Here are some answers:

This year, the PTA communicates mainly with a WhatsApp group for the more administrative and organisational part. Active members meet from time to time to discuss about the funding of projects, the activities we should put in place, our communication tools, our link with school, etc Those meetings are informal and are meant to keep everyone informed about what is happening.

The Parent Teacher Association is not a closed organisation with strong rules and established plan.  It is in fact just a small group of mothers and fathers, let's say 20, who dedicate some of their time to other parents, who support teachers and who want to share their enthusiasm to make life more fun around school. All parents, teachers and staff are members and can take an active part in the organization.

The Facebook page is for everyone and you are welcome to post any information that you think is of interest for our community. You are welcome to organise polls, plan outings, share pertinent information, ask questions,... For example, if you want to introduce yourself, meet people who have the same hobby, if you want to have a fika with people from your country or decide to go and visit a place, you are welcome to use the Facebook page to find buddies.

Like children, each year, new parents join and some leave. This is why the PTA has to renew its active members Team all the time and welcomes all initiatives to keep the fun going on. Everyone can offer something to the community and present members are happy to share and transmit the tools that support our actions.

Are you convinced now it is your turn to get involved?

Send a message to isgr.pta.socialactivities@gmail.com, speak about it to one of our active members or introduce yourself on our communication pages and groups.

Have a nice fall! Laurence

ISGR PTA is supporting new after school activities program for students

It's often a challenge to register our children in activities after school, no? For years, the PTA has always tried to support parents and students by answering their questions about this, as there is no specific program offered by ISGR. Hopefully, the Sports Club was created by Peter a few years ago and is now running well. Still there was room for other type of activities. ISGR had already allowed private teachers to use school premises for music lessons for example but this would not fulfil all the needs of our community. Some parents have as well developed their own clubs but it was not always easy to find information about those. Now it's a new era that begins with a dedicated process for "Activity Leaders" to offer activities at school as well as there is a more transparent routine to register the children to those activities:  a special thank you to Iris who did an amazing job on this! From there, we hope the offer will grow and that ISGR will be able to

Welcome to a new school year at ISGR!

We are ready! Yes 2020 is not like any other year but the PTA looks forward to continuing some of its missions this new school year. So what did we learn so far about the situation with Covid-19 and what to expect this year - unless it changes for better - regarding PTA activities? The rule is no gatherings of more than 50 people and school will continue to do as much online meetings as possible to reduce contact. It means that sadly we cannot hold any event like the Welcoming Breakfast, the Family Day or even the Winter  Bazaar.   We still want to do as much as we can to welcome new parents. There are 143 new students, meaning a lot of new families joined ISGR. There will be an orientation tour on August 21st and if more people are interested on Tuesday 25 August. Information will be advertised during the online welcoming session held by school no Monday 20 and also on Managebac. During this tour, PTA active members will share a lot of useful information with newcomers about living in

Welcome to the ISGR PTA Blog!

With this new initiative, we now offer our members a more knowledgeable and accessible information about our missions and goals. It is also the place where you can find what the PTA has to offer during the school year and how you can contribute by being an active member and joining the PTA Team. Go through all the pages: maybe you did not know how fun  it is  to belong to our groups or how rewarding it is to  contribute to the well being of the ISGR community. You are part of the action: the PTA  provides a  forum  for people interested in school and local life, and it supports  parents, teachers and staff who want to be actors of the progress for our children by exchanging new ideas and funding new projects. And of course, you can  always  count on PTA other members to facilitate your integration at ISGR and in Gothenburg, Sweden. Whether you are from Sweden or abroad, if you are a parent/guardian of a child at ISGR or working at ISGR, you are automatically a membe
